Earth and space science informatics workshop (ESSI)

Target: graduate students in Earth sciences, space physics, computer science, and information systems.

Deadline: April 17, 2009.

A workshop in Earth and space science informatics will be held at UMBC's ITE building on August 3-5, 2009. The workshop will be hosted by the AGU informatics focus group along with UMBC's information systems department. The goal is to bring together graduate students and experienced researchers to present and discuss current research and future challenges in Earth and space science informatics. A special issue of the journal Earth Science Informatics will highlight papers from this workshop. Graduate Student Summer Program in Earth System Science (GSSP)

Target: graduate students in any Earth Science and related disciplines

Summer Institute in Earth Sciences

Target: undergraduate students majoring in all areas of the physical sciences to research opportunities in the atmospheric, biospheric, and hydrospheric sciences, both theoretical and experimental.

Deadline: March 6, 2009.

2008/9 UMBC Graduate Student Fellowships

Target: graduate students registered at UMBC in the Departments of Physics, Geography, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Marine-Estuarine-Environmental Sciences, or Mathematics and Statistics.

Deadline: September 28, 2008.

Self-Directed Internships

Target: students of any level who wish to work with a specific Goddard mentor may arrange for an internship in consultation with their mentor; such internships may be undertaken at any time of year.
