POSITION TITLE: Media Specialist, Science Video
GEST 130-67-234-H

PERSONNEL STATUS: Exempt, Full time, Grant Funded
Position is for one year with the possibility of extension.
Note: This is a grant-funded position wherein employment is contingent upon
the renewal of the grant and carries no layoff or reinstatement rights.

DEPARTMENT: Goddard Earth Sciences and Technology (GEST) Center

Position is located at the Goddard Space Flight Center located in Greenbelt, Maryland.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Excellent opportunity for video producer or visual media technologist. The focus of this effort is to use video and multimedia technologies to communicate the results of NASA's science missions to the general public. The incumbent will work with a team of science writers, data visualizers, multimedia producers and web designers on a broad range of scientific and educational media products including: video news releases, web shorts/vodcasts/features, televised press conferences, and support for news interviews and long form documentaries. He/she will research, develop, and coordinate science news stories and press events with NASA scientists, science writers, public affairs officers, and graphics/animation content creators; produce and edit video and audio content for live and on-demand science programming; produce and edit web pages and work with content management specialists to render content for NASA web portals.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree and experience in development and delivery of digital multimedia content (especially video). Producer should have some experience working with
scientific or technical content. Experience in space or Earth science especially valued. Must have strong editorial judgement. Note: Selection is contingent upon obtaining Goddard security clearance.

SALARY: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
