Arctic and Antarctic satellite imagery, radiative transfer modeling, cloud shadow detection in satellite imagery, education and outreach.

Biography:

Mike Wilson joined GEST in August 2009, after receiving his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His work at Illinois involved separating clouds from ice and snow in satellite imagery, mostly using the MISR instrument. He also has compared Arctic and Antarctic MISR retrievals to radiative transfer model simulations. As part of his work at GEST, he is working on finding cloud shadows in Landsat imagery.
